Kampnagel, January, February 2023

This residency offered me time and space- luxurious time and space, to think and create through my practice. Instead I wanted to explore the container that was Kampnagel and understand if I could bring my methodology to this new place, context and country - and perhaps create a moment where we are in relationship with each other.

With the artist, Imogen Zino we created prompts, using language that is inherently about movement to invite others into a pre marked space. Materials such as tape, chalk, and string were left out, as a way to entice the audience to respond and create marks.

Captured across the week and in the final open studio, the question, can we create a vā together at Kampnagel was sufficiently answered. Together we opened the space and closed it, as a group. The remnants left behind were what intrigued me after looking at the documentation.

Many thanks to curator Melanie Zimmerman for the invitation, the production team and Fine Schimmer for their work and tautoko.
